Ayan Jama has a MSW and is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Toronto. She is also a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

Ayan Jama is a highly skilled and well-qualified social worker with extensive experience in multiple areas of social work. She holds both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto. She has been a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2022.

Her therapeutic approach is client-centered and grounded in anti oppressive, anti-racist, anti black racist, and anti transphobic frameworks. This ensures that she provides equitable and respectful care, focusing on understanding and addressing the unique needs of her clients. Ms. Jama utilizes various psychotherapeutic modalities to assist her clients in their mental health journeys.

Ms. Jama has expertise in a range of mental health issues, including:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Interpersonal concerns and family conflict
  • Coping with daily stressors, self-harm, and suicidal ideation
  • Emotional concerns and trauma
  • Psycho-education for individuals and families

She is also experienced in working with diverse populations, including 2LGBTQ+ individuals, Indigenous communities, newcomers, and refugees in Canada. She emphasizes creating an open, healing environment that respects cultural sensitivity and dignity.

Her therapeutic services also include structured dialectical behavioral therapy, group therapy, crisis support and planning, and mental health assessments for individuals, including children, youth, adults, and families.

In addition, Ms. Jama has advanced knowledge in addressing diversity and equity issues in the Ontario Mental Health System, which makes her particularly well-suited to support marginalized communities. She has
developed expertise in a variety of issues, such as:

  • Mood disorders, grief, and substance use issues
  • Gaming addictions and anger management
  • Family relations, cultural shocks, and learning disabilities
